THE GRIMOIRE A DISCRIPTION OF THE WORK AND SOME AVAILABLE TITLES
In the study of The Occult, one's interest may lead to the practical application of the Ceremonies, and Rituals of Magick. The power of Words and Specific Rites is expressed in, what is known as, The Grimoire. Whether by design or happenstance, The Grimoire is the written legacy of the Magician. It contains the symbols, protocol and invocations of the Priest, Sorcerer, Necromancer, Healer or Conjuror. The Sacred texts are made up of the petitions to God(s), Spirit(s), and properties of and powers of plants, animals, and metals, etc. The Grimoire is the more than a written gateway -- it is a communion from the mundane to the supernatural. It contains the methodology of Manifestation --that which we know as Magick.
The following titles are just a sampling of a few of our available Grimoires:
The Origin of the Word "Grimoire" is the Old French "gramaire" or "grammar," which came to English from the Greek letter of the alphabet, "gramma" which came from "of letters" or grammatikos, to the Latin grammatica, which brings us to the Old French... It gets even more complicated but at least we can agree that the consensus of Grimoire's definition is; a manual for invocations, summoning spirit, magick, spells, acquiring occult knowledge, necromancy, or an encyclopedia of spells and incantations. Recorded use of the term dates from 1849.
Dr. Oliver I. Spence, W.D. elaborates on Grimoire as being: a variation of the word "glamour", glamour defined as "A mortal syntheses of "Beauty" -a synthesis because; only The Creator can give birth to Original Beauty. It is in the practice(s) found in the Grimoire that mortals manifest, or practice Magick... Contemporary facination with the Grimoire is reflected in cinema and art such as Indiana Jones, The Ninth Gate, Frankenstein, Hocus Pocus, Harry Potter and much of the art of H.R. Giger are all influenced or center on a legend of the Grimoire. The interest in these works is growing in popular culture as well as occult circles.
One should keep in mind the spirit in which these books were authored. A Grimoire is composed with grave purpose and should not be taken lightly -- they are Taismans in-and-of themselves. Grimoires' embody the greatest expedition you will embark upon..."Some books cannot be opened with impunity. Enlightenment such-as-this is a loss of innocence, for you cannot unlearn Magick nor-then live in a fool's paradise; blind to good & evil or deaf from truth... this adventure is one-way... crossing the threshold of ignorance and shedding the veil of convention... prepare to see great things... prepare to experience your magnificent self..." -Oliver I. Spence
